General dentistry is uniquely oriented toward the prevention of disease. One of Dr. Kirkpatrick’s fundamental beliefs is the importance of teaching patients how to take care of their mouths and how to keep a healthy smile. The idea is to prevent decay and periodontal disease from ever happening. We place a strong emphasis on oral health and hygiene in our office. At a routine visit, you will likely have a thorough examination of your mouth (including teeth, gums, and other structures and an oral cancer exam), a professional cleaning, and a discussion about your dental and overall health. Dr. Kirkpatrick is very thorough during your initial exam and you should expect to spend 60-90 minutes with us during that visit.
Regular exams, including diagnostic digital x-rays, and professional teeth cleanings are a cornerstone of prevention. We want to identify risk factors or small problems early and then correct them before they become big problems.
In terms of routine dental appointments, there isn’t a single schedule that fits all patients. Depending on your individual circumstances, Dr. Kirkpatrick may recommend seeing you twice a year, every three months, or another interval.
Dr. Kirkpatrick does not specialize in just one area of dentistry. He can provide many different services for you and your family, such as:
- Cosmetic procedures
- Crowns and bridges
- Amalgam or composite restorations/fills
- Dental implants
- Full or partial dentures
- Gum disease treatment
- Occlusal/night guards
- Oral surgery
- Nutritional counseling
- Teeth whitening
The above list is not meant to be all inclusive but should give you an idea of the many different types of treatment that we offer our patients. The two primary procedures not provided by our office are root canal treatment and orthodontics. We work with several specialists in these areas in order to provide a complete solution for you.
